Profile status
BDR status describes how developed the rating history is—not how skilled the player is.
A beginner can eventually have an established rating, while a highly skilled player can still be provisional when only limited approved history is available.
Unrated
The player has a BDR identity or profile but does not yet have enough approved rated activity for a public skill rating.
Provisional
The player has an active BDR supported by verified results, but reliability and match history are still developing. A provisional rating is valid, although it may move more noticeably when new results are recorded.
Provisional does not mean beginner, weak, or ineligible. Organizers should review the player’s complete history and apply the rules of their event.
Established
The profile has reached the current BDR reliability requirement for established status. It has a broader verified history behind the displayed rating.
Established does not mean advanced, permanent, or immune from movement. The rating continues to update when new approved results are processed.
Rating status and playing category are different
Status describes rating confidence and history. Category describes the competitive level or division in which a player is currently placed. Numeric category targets remain private even while current player BDR values are public.
